Carer's Allowance Supplement
Those in receipt of Carer's Allowance are due a supplement in December of £245.70.This payment is on top of the weekly Carer's Allowance benefit. There are two per year. The last one was in June. This one should be paid automatically in December but if you have any queries about the payment you can contact Social Security Scotland directly. You should also have received a letter about the supplement payment.
If you are not in receipt of Carer's Allowance, you may be eligible. The DWP states that over 400,000 people are eligible to receive the benefit but have not claimed.
Carer's Allowance is a benefit of £69.70 per week. It can be paid to those that care for someone at least 35 hours per week if you match certain criteria. The person you care for must already receive certain benefits such as: Personal Independence Payment (daily living component), Disability Living Allowance (Middle rate or Highest Rate Attendance Allowance), Constant Attendance Allowance (At or above maximum rate with an Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit), Constant Attendance Allowance (basic rate with War Disablement pension), Armed Forces Independence Payment.
