Background:
Buddies Clubs and Services provide a range of services for children and adults affected by disability. All our services have been developed with input from our families and service users. We like to meet our families and carry out assessments of individual need before we build Personal Support Plans for our clients. At present we offer the following services for young adults aged 19+:
1. Community Outreach/ Community Support:
This includes Escort to and from college, escort to and from residential respite, evening outings and weekend trips and outings. We are also in the process of researching volunteer and work opportunities for our young people who will require different levels of support to enable full participation in such projects.
Hourly rates: 1-1 Support £18.50/hour. 2-1 support £28.50/ hour.
Staff public transport included in this rate, all other extras such as meals out, concert tickets, theatre tickets, sports outings and snacks will need individual budgets. Taxi's can also be provided with escort but incur an extra charge.
At the moment most of our outreach services are strictly indoors due to the pandemic but we have introduced a slow return to activities in the community with hopes for more in the future.
2. Other services available at present are:
Evening clubs: These are charged per session and cost from £25.00 - £45.00 depending on the level of support required. Some young people who require 2-1 for outings can be accommodated on 1-1 ratio when indoors. Transport is also available for local users to access their clubs and costs £7.00 per trip via our bus or £12.00 via taxi.
Holiday clubs, which are on during school and college holidays, run from 10.00am-2.00pm at the moment. (These have been shortened finish times due to the pandemic, regular finish time is 3pm).
Charges per day range from £55.00 - £120.00 depending on the level of support. There are small extra charges for outings and trips. Clients provide their own packed lunches. We can also arrange community outreach during periods when there are no holiday clubs.
3. Adventure Breaks:
We run four adventure breaks per year and have options for smaller mini-breaks by demand. Adventure Breaks allows the young people to spend a number of days overnight with Buddies staff with a group of young people at a range of different locations such as Glencoe, Aberdeen, Blackpool and more. Once there they will learn new skills, socialise and partake in a range of different activities at different venues nearby the site.
Cost per 4 night/ 5 day break is £1,750- £2,600 per client depending on the level of support required. This includes: Transport to from and during the break, all food, trips and outings and full 24 hour support.
We can also organise tailor made breaks for groups or individuals after her discussion with families.
We can also provide staff to support someone to go on holiday with their family. Again prices are agreed after assessment and discussion with families.
Further services and individual support packages will be added in the near future as families identify other needs.
